How to Use | Simmered Pork

Suggested Cuts

  • Pork belly / pork shoulder / pork shank
    About 500–800 g

 

Ingredients

  • JHJ Chinese Simmering Seasoning Mix for Pork × 1 sachet
  • Water – enough to fully cover the meat
  • Soy sauce (optional) – 1–2 tablespoons
  • Spring onion, ginger, garlic (optional) – for extra flavour

 

Method 

1. Blanch the pork
    Place the pork in a pot with cold water. Bring to the boil, then remove and rinse well to wash off any impurities.

2. Add the seasoning
    Return the pork to the pot and add enough water to fully cover the meat.
    Add 1 sachet of seasoning mix. If you like, add a little soy sauce, spring onion, and sliced ginger.

3. Slow simmer
    Bring to the boil, then turn the heat down low, cover, and gently simmer for 60–90 minutes, until the pork is tender and well seasoned.

4. Rest in the liquid (recommended)
    Turn off the heat and leave the pork soaking in the simmering liquid for 20–30 minutes for deeper flavour.

5. Slice & serve
    Slice and serve with steamed rice, noodles, or blanched greens. 

 

Handy Tips

  • Once cooled, the simmering liquid can be refrigerated and reused 1–2 times (bring to a full boil before reuse).
  • Also suitable for pork hock, pork shank, or mixed simmered dishes.
