How to Use | Braising, Simmering & Cooking
Perfect for braised pork, braised beef, red-braised dishes, soups, Chinese-style braises, and spice blends.
Recommended Amount
Use 1–2 whole star anise pods per dish, adjust to taste and portion size.
Directions
1. Add directly to the pot
Add star anise together with other ingredients, along with soy sauce, spring onion, ginger, and garlic. Braise or simmer as usual.
2. Use with other spices
Pairs well with bay leaves, Sichuan peppercorns, cinnamon, and other aromatics to build deeper flavour.
3. Remove before serving
Remove the star anise once cooking is complete to keep the aroma balanced and not overpowering.
