Cooking Method:


1. Add the bamboo shoots slices to boiling water directly and cook for 1 minute then drain.

2. Stir-fry or stew the bamboo shoots with meat or vegetables to create a tasty meal.

Braised Pork Belly with Dried Bamboo Shoots

Ingredients:
1 bowl dried bamboo shoots slices (soaked until soft)
300 g pork belly, cut into chunks
3 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp rock sugar (or brown sugar)
1 tbsp rice wine
Water as needed

 

Instructions:

  1. Soak the dried bamboo shoots slices in water for about 2 hours, then cut them into shorter pieces.
  2. Cut the pork belly into chunks and pan-fry (without oil) until some fat is released.
  3. Add the garlic and stir-fry until fragrant, then mix in the bamboo shoots slices.
  4. Pour in soy sauce, sugar, rice wine, and enough water to cover the ingredients.
  5. Simmer gently on low heat for about 40 minutes until tender and flavourful.
  6. Reduce the sauce until slightly thickened, then serve hot.

 

Tip:
The bamboo shoots slices soak up the rich, savoury sauce. A perfect match with steamed rice!
